U.S. rebar sizes: Imperial bar designations represent the bar diameter in fractions of 1/8 inch, such that #8 = 8/8 inch = 1 inch diameter. Area = (bar size/9) 2 such that area of #8 = (8/9)2 = 0.79 inch. This applies to #8 bars and smaller. Larger bars have a slightly larger diameter than the one computed using the 1/8 inch convention.

European re bar sizes: Metric bar designations represent the nominal bar diameter in millimetres. Bars in Europe will be specified to comply with the standard EN 10080.

There are four main rules for steel reinforced concrete beams:
1. To count the height of the reinforced concrete beam devide the gap length by 20. For example: the gap is 4 meters. Thу minimum height of the concrete beam should be 4 / 20 = 0,2 meter
2. To count the width of the concrete beam: Multiply the height by 5 and devide by 7. For example: the beam height is 0,2 meter. 0,2 x 5 / 7 = 0,14 m.
3. The beam should be enforsed with at least 4 steel re bars d12-14 in two levels.
4. The concrete should be applied all volume at once without big waiting gaps.
