Above ground septic is the choice for the lot where the ground water level is coming up to th eground surface. In that case the septic tank placed on the ground surface and the septic fields are placed in a sand-gravel ridge, also placed over the ground zero level. The main problem of that kind above ground septics is insulation for the cold time period. The other problem of the above ground septic is the better ventilation requirments, because of the lack of volume and less bacterial activity in it. To enforce the bacterial activity in a septic tank it is recommended to use special live bacterials.
